Nutrition Programs

Home delivered meals are available for the homebound (restrictions apply). Congregate lunches are served Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 12:30 pm at the Winton, Ahoskie, and Murfreesboro Sites.

Reservations are required 24 hours in advance. There is no charge for people 60 or older and for folks under 60, $5.00 per meal.

Respite Care

Temporary, respite care is available for Hertford County residents, age 60 or older, caring for a loved one suffering from debilitating disease.

In-Home Aide Program

Personal care services are available for Hertford County residents, age 60 or older, and currently not receiving assistance under Medicaid.

Caregiver Supplies

Caregiver supplies are available on a limited basis and include liquid supplement and incontinence supplies.

Non-Emergency, Medical Transportation

Non-emergency, medical transportation assistance is available to Hertford County residents, age 60 or older and/or disabled.

General Transportation

General transportation is available for Hertford County residents age or older

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

The Hertford County Office of Aging along with several sponsors provided a trip for the Grandparents and Grandchildren to visit and tour the White House in Washington, D.C.

The program provides other educational as well as recreational trips for these grandchildren that they would not otherwise be able to afford.

Falls Prevention and SHIIP Information

Ramps, rails, minor home repairs or modifications are available through the Hertford County Office of Aging for Hertford County residents age 60 or older. Funding is limited and restrictions apply. Please call the Office of Aging for more information at 252.358.7856.

Medicare Counseling

Medicare counseling is available by appointment. We can help you with valuable information regarding Medicare Parts A, B, C, D, and in some cases, help you find assistance paying for your prescription drugs.
